Introduction

Hey lovely people!

 I would like to welcome you to my blog RABUIC which stands for rooted and built up in Christ. I got this title from Colossians 2:7 (NLT) which says:

 "Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness". 

 So what does it mean to be rooted and built up in Christ? Think about the function of the root in plants; it absorbs and stores water and nutrients for the plant, it anchors the plant firmly to the ground, and it provides support to the plant. Similarly, for the "built up" part, think about the purpose of the foundation in a building. It carries the weight of the building and enables the building to stand firm against heavy storms and winds. The same holds true for us when we're rooted and built up in Christ, we would be able to stand firm and grow even in the midst of adversity/calamity/disaster. 

 One big part about being rooted and built up in Christ is immersing ourselves in the word of God so we wont be captured by "empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense" that come from people in the world (Colossians 2:8). So this blog would be based solely on the truth of God's word and not what popular culture says. Another huge part about being rooted and built up in Christ is being doers of God's words so we would also be discussing practical ways of applying God's word to our lives. 

 I'm super excited about what God is going to do in our lives as we make intentional efforts about developing our relationship with Him and staying grounded in Him. Stay tuned for the next post where we would discuss our first topic "Who is God?" :)

Life's Complexity & God's Goodness

Last week was a very tumultuous one to say the least. From losing a high school friend to dealing with conflict in a relationship to disappointment about a performance on a test. Like me, we've all had a fair share of dealing with life's struggles, which sometimes leaves us wondering, "why me?"or "why do bad stuff happen to good people?", questions we'll probably never know the full answers to till we get to ask God face to face. God, My Shepherd!

Psalm 23 is probably the most popular book of the bible, I'm sure even some non-christians know it by heart. Today, I was having a conversation with my mum that opened my eyes to interpret verse 1 of this psalm differently. The New Living Translation of verse 1 reads, "The Lord is my shepherd, I have all that I need". So as my mum and I were discussing, she says, "God is your shepherd so you lack nothing, if you ever think you lack something then you don't need it". Wow! Simple as these words were, they were still so profound because for the past few months, I've been burdened by fear, worry, and uncertainty as I've thought about my future.
